The audio issues are usually a result of the CPU being overloaded. So the further right you put the buffer, the more latency you add.

Is this just a case of the SL-2 not being able to handle DJ-Pro and scratching? When I run Scratch Live version 2.4.4 on my much older, 2011, MacBook Pro the latency is gone, but Scratch Live won't run on my newer Mac. I prefer to have it set that way, but I've tried running the turntables directly into the SL-2 in the traditional fashion, and the latency is identical both ways. The PMC-05 has way to plug the turntables directly into the mixer, so you can play regular vinyl without having to plug in the laptop, and then looping through the SL-2. Last month I bought brand new DJ Pro vinyl from Serato, but they seem identical in every way to the 2004 Scratch Live records, and the latency is identical with both. I'd been using an older set of Scratch Live records. I recently upgraded my USB cables to Chroma cables, but nothing changed. I've tried using both a Shure M44-7 and Ortofon Q-Bert cartridges, with no change.

If I do the identical scratch using a normal vinyl record, it sounds fine, so it isn't my inability to perform the scratch. When I do a precise, quick scratch, like a chirp or a flare, it doesn't quite come out right.

When I scratch, there is a tiny, but noticeable, amount of latency. I'm using Technics 1200MK2s, a Vestax PMC-05ProIV mixer, a 2019 MacBook Pro with a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 and 16 GB 2400 MHZ DDR4, running Mojave 10.14.6, and a Rane SL-2.
